With a relatively flat city center, Denver is great for those who choose to bike rather than drive. Additionally, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) runs nearly 35 miles of light rail across 36 stations, plus a 365 day a year bus network with over 9,000 stops across eight counties in the Denver area.

Denver’s LoDo (Lower Downtown) area is a bustling, flourishing destination for family fun, sports, night-life and more. LoDo is the site of the original settlement of Denver, and subsequently, the oldest part of the city. It boasts more than 70 bars and restaurants, as well as Coors Field and the Pepsi Center, where baseball’s Colorado Rockies and basketball’s Nuggets teams play, respectively. It also encompasses Elitch Gardens Theme Park. LoDo covers 23 blocks in a neighborhood that includes Union Station, the main area railway station. It is bounded by 20th Street, Lawrence Street, Cherry Creek and the South Platte River and offers mountain views, parks and dashes of contemporary architecture mixed with historic structures.
Sometimes referred to as the “Harlem of the West,” the Five Points district in Denver is a neighborhood with rich history and culture. The neighborhood features a markedly multicultural influence, with strong African-American historical roots. As both an entertainment and business district, it is easily accessible from downtown and other nearby regions. Denver’s Office of Economic Development continues its focus on the area for small business development and the promotion of local arts and culture, as well as encouraging a healthy sense of community and growth as a tourist destination. Originally made up of primarily German, Jewish and Irish immigrants, it later became a major center for jazz in the West, attracting such greats as Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald. Highland and Lower Highland (LoHi) are northern neighborhoods of Denver, Colorado. They are south of West 38th Street, east of Federal Boulevard, north of Speer Boulevard and west of the South Platte River. This area is characterized by a diverse group of homes, including historic Victorian buildings. It is also the location of many unique shops and restaurants that cater to all of Denver’s residents and visitors.
One of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver, Auraria, has evolved from its early beginnings. Auraria was founded before Denver was established. In 1858, a group of miners made this area their home. Gold had just been discovered nearby, and Auraria was the next spot for aspiring prospectors to seek riches. The name of the town was based on the Latin term for gold, aurum. Soon, buildings, businesses, homes and more lined the streets of the town that was then part of Kansas Territory. Auraria is located on the west side of Denver. It is north of Interstate 70, east of the South Platte River and south of Cherry Creek. This area is best known as a central location for several college campuses for Colorado educational institutions. This area has much to offer its residents and visitors, including a long, storied history.
Named for the former Air Force base in Eastern Denver, the Lowry neighborhood is now a beautiful community of single family homes, apartment communities, business, golf courses, and more. While close to downtown, Lowry offers a quieter more suburban feel without sacrificing access to central Denver. In addition to its rich history, Lowry is also known for its plethora of restaurants, bars and breweries; extensive shopping; easy access to gyms and outdoor activities; and amazing views of the Rocky Mountains.
The River North Arts District (RiNo) is one of the most unique areas you'll see in Denver.
