Things to do in Denver

Uncover Denver's best recreational opportunities

Denver offers more than 5,000 acres of parks, trails, golf courses and playgrounds. In fact, many of Denver's most prominent neighborhoods are built around and named after such beloved green spaces like Washington Park, City Park, Cheesman Park and Sloan's Lake. The metro area's proximity to the Rocky Mountains also creates numerous opportunities for residents to ski and snowboard in the winter.

In addition to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver has a ton of incredible parks within the city limits. Washington Park (or Wash Park) is a favorite with locals because of its trails, its flora and its two ponds. City Park is the largest park in the Denver at 330 acres. Confluence Park, which sits along the river, is great for a picnic. The Denver park system has over 200 separate parks. With all the sunshine the city receives, you won’t be lacking for opportunities to get out and enjoy them.

Shop the Montclair neighborhood

Lowry North’s central location puts you close to the restaurants and shops of the Lowry Town Center. If that's not enough, the excitement of Downtown is just 15 minutes away. Lowry is a unique, mixed-use community redeveloped on what was formerly the Lowry Air Force Base.  It boasts over 800 acres of parks and open space (about 20% of all the park acreage in Denver!) and features playgrounds, amphitheaters, golf course and ice arena, recreation center and pool, dog park, sports complex and fields, and hiking and biking trails.

Denver is also home to a flourishing arts scene, and music is a big part of life here. Numerous famous acts originated here. There are nearly 100 breweries in metro Denver, and it is host to the annual Great American Beer Festival that showcases more than 3,500 beers from brewers around the country. Denver has more microbreweries than any city outside of Portland, Oregon. The Denver area has even been called the “Napa Valley of Beer.”

Exercise how you want to, when you want to

Work up a sweat at one of Lowry’s various fitness facilities. 24 Hour Fitness has a location just outside the Town Center, and offers your traditional gym experience. For something different, try Orangetheory Fitness. Endorphin, also including in our best workouts feature, offers great indoor cycling and high-intensity interval training. Located in the old Air Force Base, Base Fitness offers a variety of fitness packages: One-on-one personal training or “Combi-Training,” which is group interval training.

Grab a cold one at Maui Wowi. A cold smoothie, that is. The Hawaiian-themed shop serves up Hawaiian coffee and smoothies. Get a Hawaiian Breeze (strawberry and mango-orange) and pull up a seat at the colorful wooden lounge chairs outside. Or if you’re looking for a different way to unwind, hop next door and grab a brew at the Lowry Beer Garden. Choose from a variety of beers on tap and in cans (don’t miss Avery’s seasonal Liliko’i Kepolo on tap) and relax on the enclosed patio.

Love sports? Live in the heart of the action

Lowry North is the perfect place to indulge your love of sports, with no less than eight professional sports teams that thrill crowds year-round. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, rugby – Denver’s got it all, with some of the world’s best athletes on the rosters. Super Bowl Champion Broncos rock, and the Rockies, Avalanche and Nuggets also score. Denver residents love their sports teams, but they especially love the Broncos. Even before winning the 2016 Super Bowl, the Broncos were the city’s favorite team.
